Three Big Questions We’ve Been Asking:
How can we take better care of our members?
How can we hold each other more accountable?
How can we “close the back door”?

Our Answer is Family Groups!

What are Family Groups?

  • Small groups of individuals (10-150) who choose to come together on Sunday nights for the purpose of worship, Bible Study and fellowship.
  • These groups can meet in homes or at the church building.

What will be the function of our Family Groups?

1. Care - One facet of the Family Group ministry will be to take care of the pastoral needs within the Greenwood Park family. Taking food to those who have lost loved ones or have returned from an extended hospital stay, hosting showers for those getting married or having a baby will be taken care of by each group and within each group. If the need arises then different Family Groups can work together to take care of those needs. These are not the only pastoral needs that people have. Broken homes, addictions, low self-esteem, and many others things are struggles that take place in people's lives everyday. In a congregation as large as Greenwood Park it is difficult for our elders to adequately shepherd all of our members. We believe that the small group method is one of the most efficient ways to shepherd this congregation. Elders will use the Family Groups to keep up with the physical and spiritual health of the Greenwood Park members.

2. Accountability - It is difficult in a church this size to fully know who is in our Sunday morning assembly and who is not in our Sunday morning assembly. We feel that the Family Groups can be a great way to provide some accountability. By breaking the congregation down into smaller groups we can keep up with who is and is not attending.

3. Relationships - Greenwood Park's Sunday morning worship services are powerful and full of praise for our Father. Due to the size and nature of those gatherings they are not always conducive to building relationships. Relationships are a much needed part of the Christian faith and many times people fall through the cracks on Sunday mornings and never build the relationships they need to keep them active. Our Family Groups will provide opportunities for members of Greenwood Park to build strong, lasting relationships. This can help to close our "back door".

We invite you to make one of our Family Groups part of your Christian walk today!
