“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.”
I Corinthians 12:4-7
These ministries are characterized by service and outreach.
Minister – Steve Tyree | Elder – Larry Coop
Hilltoppers for Christ
Coordinator: Jeff Johnson
The purpose of this ministry is to reach out to Western students and other college aged young adults, especially those from out of town. This ministry provides Bible classes at Green-wood Park on Sundays and Wednesdays, Sunday night worship at the HFC Student Center, and On Campus Discipleship during the week. In addition there are fellowship activities planned throughout the semes-ter, a fall trip, a winter trip and a summer mission trip. You can help by providing a meal on Wednesday nights at the building and reaching out to college students by taking them to eat lunch, do laundry at your house or other efforts to make them feel at home. Visit the HFC website by clicking on this link.
FriendSpeak
Coordinator: Darren and Sara Waldo
The purpose of this ministry is to reach out to International students and lead them through a Bible study while learning conversational English. You can help by volunteering to read with a student. This typically takes about one hour a week and is flexi-ble based on your schedule and that of your student. Training and materials will be provided.
Pantry
Coordinator: Bob Ard
The purpose of this ministry is to provide physical help in the form of food to those in need. Through your weekly contributions we are able to purchase large quantities of food commodities and distribute them through the church office. You can help by volunteering to distribute food on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Hospital Visitation
Coordinator: Byron Edwards
The purpose of this ministry is to reach out to members of our congregation who are in the hospital. This is a new ministry, so it is still in the planning stages. You can help by making yourself available to visit as needs arise. When someone is in the hospital the church office will call to make sure a visit is made.
Widows and Senior Citizens
Coordinator: Kevin Cleaver
The purpose of this ministry is to insure that the spiritual, physical, social and emotional needs of widows and senior citizens are being met. This will include home repair and upkeep, planning group activities, involvement in service when possible and encouraging continued spiritual growth. You can help by volunteering to do minor home repair, planning and attending trips and events, making visits, and being available to teach as needed.
Benevolence
Coordinator: George Peterson
The purpose of this ministry is to meet the physical needs of people in our community when they are unable to do for themselves. When needs arise, every effort is made to help based on the funds that are available. These efforts are necessarily kept confidential, but your weekly contributions allow Greenwood Park to meet many needs. You can help first of all by practicing benevolence in your daily life. There are many opportunities to meet a need every day. But if you find out about a need that is larger, contact George Peterson. Please be aware that not every need can be met, but an effort will be made to help as often as possible.
Counseling
Coordinator: Greg Elliott
The purpose of the counseling ministry is to provide an environment where individuals, families and couples can heal from the hurts and pains of life. By providing an accepting, supportive atmosphere they are allowed a chance to face areas in their lives that need healing and change. You can help by praying for Greg as he works with hurting people and for those who are in the process of healing. Also, a portion of your weekly contribution helps support this ministry by assisting those who otherwise couldn’t afford counseling.
